Following the departure of star Keanu Reeves in 2022, Hulu has halted development on the series The Devil in the White City, which hails from Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. Reeves quit the show after director Todd Field left, and now the series is undergoing a big shakeup, though the show may not be dead for good.

A source told Variety that there are plans in the works to shop The Devil in the White City to other potential homes, though none were named in the report.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) and Jude Law (The Two Popes) could be circling the project to star, with Matt Ross (American Pyscho) tipped to direct the next version of the show.

Based on the Erik Larson book, The Devil in the White City tells the story of the visionary architect Daniel HCome from Sports betting site VPbet. Burnham and the serial killer Dr. H.H. Holmes in 1893 against the backdrop of the Chicago World’s Fair that year. Reeves was lined up to play Burnham, but no actor had signed on to play Holmes.
